Elephants are the largest existing land animals. Three living species are currently recognized, the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. They are an informal grouping within the proboscidean family Elephantidae. Elephantidae is the only surviving family of proboscideans; extinct members include the mastodons. Elephantidae also contains several extinct groups, including the mammoths and straight-tusked elephants. African elephants have larger ears and concave backs, whereas Asian elephants have smaller ears, and convex or level backs. The distinctive features of all elephants include a long proboscis called a trunk, tusks, large ear flaps, massive legs, and tough but sensitive skin. The trunk is used for breathing, bringing food and water to the mouth, and grasping objects. Tusks, which are derived from the incisor teeth, serve both as weapons and as tools for moving objects and digging. The large ear flaps assist in maintaining a constant body temperature as well as in communication. The pillar-like legs carry their great weight.
Gift Wrapping:
All items are sent gift wrapped as pictured. Reusable burlap drawstring sack colors may vary depending on stock. Please message me if you have a preference.
SIZE AND DETAIL:
See pictures for dimensions. Each pair contains approximately 5.3 grams of fine silver. I handcraft each piece so weight may vary slightly. All my materials are recycled and/or natural.
HOW IT"S MADE:
I made these fine silver earrings using Art Clay Silver (PMC). ..999 and .950 After I shape the piece, I fire it in my jewelry kiln for 2 hours at 1650 degrees. I give it a bath in patina and polish it to a high shine. Most of my jewelry is made to order but I usually craft them within a month or so of sale.
RECYCLED SHIPPING!!!
I am so happy to announce that I use 100% RECYCLED AND RECYCLABLE shipping material!! I have looked the world over for the most sustainable shipping supplies and I've finally found the perfect combo. From envelope to your gift box or bag. I even up-cycle my shredded scrap paper as padding! I will use my packing tape until it runs out, so not to waste, but then its paper tape as well. Love your earth!!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
It's so easy! Fine silver doesn't tarnish easily, in fact I have a couple of pieces I haven't polished in a year or so. Just get a silver polishing cloth, when you notice a little change in the silver brilliance, just rub it with the cloth a few times! It will not disappoint. (I offer a polishing cloth with the purchase of two pieces) Please message me for your free cloth as I don't want to send an unwanted cloth. :)
